What is scene?

It's hard to describe what scene actually is. A lot of emos and scenes have their own opinion about it. But most people describe scene as a subculture that's focused on bright, colored clothes. Scenes often are confused with emos because they look a lot like eachother. The difference is that the emo-subculture is more focused on emo-music and scenes are more focused on their clothes. Emo and scene form 2 different subcultures.

Scene stands for scenester. The scene subculture first formed in the Uk. and spread quickly to America and Australia. The word scene appeared in the late 90s before the scene subculture appeared. It was used for communities or kind of group. The hardcore scene is a group of people that like the hardcore music genre. In the mid 2000s the scene subculture followed the emo subculture. Some people think scene evolved imidetly from the emo subculture (whitch makes sense why the 2 subcultures look like eachother). The band Hollywood undead made the term scene kid more populair by writing their song: The Kids.

While emos are more focused on music, black and emotional things and are more introverted, scenes are more focused on clothes, colourful, crazy and happy things. They are Extraverted. A scene girl named Eve O'Brien described scene kids as the happy emos. scenes are known for being crazy and searching for atention. They were populair on Myspace. Scenes can also wear darker emo chlothes. Scenes are connected with emos but to be a scene you don't need to like Emotional-hardcore (a music genre emo kids must like te be emo). The scene subculture was really populair from the 2000s to 2010 but then it lost it's populairity. sinds 2019 it looks like scene is making a come back.
